Internalizing Nature:

Connecting with nature while in an indoor learning environment

Students spend a majority of their time in the built environment. The environment rarely affords the integration of nature within the fabric of the building. This project explores the integration of natural life within a living and learning space, to inspire, calm and give back what buildings often separate us from.

Features

This conceptual space brings the four elements into one study space. The student would be facing the living plant wall which brings oxygen and life to the space. Below their feet is a calming simulated body of water. Above is a skylight or a projection of the sky with moving clouds, providing an unrestricted work space. Behind the student is the "fire" wall aka the source of light and warmth.
